Secure Login Help

Overview

In order to provide our users with the most professional and secure membership, all DCHero & CO domains (BSC Pending) employ secure login via your browser using SSL encryption technology. When you enter your username and password your web browser encrypts the data to an unreadable piece of text. This encrypted data is sent via a secure connection to our server where it is decrypted and your user name and password is verified. This prevents malicious users intercepting your password while you are trying to login.

So what do I need to do as a user?

In short you need to do nothing. Secure login works in the background through your web browser so you in effect need not do anything other then login as normal. You may however wish to check that the login page you are using is in fact a legal DCHero & CO page (see instructions below).

How do I check my login window is secure?

Most modern browsers provide a quick and easy way of seeing if you are using a secure page. If you look at the bottom of the login window you should see a padlock. If the padlock shows as closed (i.e. locked) then the page is secure. If the padlock shows as open (i.e. unlocked) or no padlock shows at all the page you are using is not secure. The images at the bottom of these page show examples of secure login (notice the padlock) for an array of popular web browsers.

NOTE: We are aware in the Opera browser no padlock shows, we are currently working to resolve that issue.

How do I check my login window is a legal login window?

To check this is a valid login site you need to check the Certificate of the site. To do so the common method in most browsers is to double-click the padlock. When the Certificate is open please confirm the certificate is for "www.dchero.com". If this is not the URL please contact a Sysop immediately to report a possible illegal login page.

Questions? Problems?

If you are experiencing login problems or have any questions about Secure Login please contact the Sysop of the site you are trying to log into.
